So I was just wondering (and haven't seen any mention of it on the main site or on the forum), is there a final figure on how much was raised for the British Heart Foundation in the end?

Sorry Leah, I've been too knackered to tot up the exact numbers, but you are right, it's overdue.

The amount from the Auction was just over £1000, the collection took in over £600, and there are few other contributions that I've yet to total up. When I have a final number I'll announce it on the website.

Heh, I don't blame you Neil, pretty much everyone I know (myself included) is still recovering from the con!

A couple of grand then, from the looks of things - that's just marvellous Cheesy

I would hate to think how long it would have taken if Neil had to count those coins by hand.....

It took us about 30 or more minutes with the machine...

Did you put those £20 notes that some fantastic person put in, too? Smiley

Whoever that was, you are a great person.

I think the reason the auction was so great is because people get motivated when charity is involved. We should do more charity raising events during the con (that are fun), say everyone has to donate a small amount--like 10p to take part in an event or something.

I liked the fact there was a collection during the Closing ceremony for the charity, which I've not seen at any other con before. I didn't have enough money left to bid on anything in the charity auction but I happily emptied the last of my loose change in my purse into the wee bag that was being passed around. It made me feel good to make even a small contribution.

The amount of wee change.... I'm just glad the coin shorting machine didn't jam..... shorting that amount of change by hand would be too much
