Too heavy for the jpop/anime disco. This kind of thing will be played in the upstairs room from 10pm - midnight.

OK, I'm really sorry but I have what is probably a really stupid question.
I personally am not a huge jpop/rock fan *is stoned* and am just a little confused as to whether it's the friday or saturday night disco that's playing that genre, as both threads are having anime music requests which has just confused me abit, especially seeing how the programme says Saturday night is the Jpop disco. I'd just appreciate it if someone could give me a smack round the head so I know what to expect on the nights.

I think the plan is that the Saturday is the main party whereas the Friday one is like the afterparty for the Concert. So it won't be as long as the Sat one.

Friday night
- anime and game themes, jpop, j-rock, j-hip-hop, Eurobeat, j-core, doujin and wota tracks, visual kei etc. etc. Basically "a bit of everything so long as it's Japanese".

Saturday night
- Main room, ground floor - mostly anime and game themes, j-pop, light j-rock, small amounts of K-pop / dorama themes / etc.
Upstairs on the 1st floor - j-rock and visual kei 10pm - midnight. Midnight - 2am Eurobeat and j-dance.

I think the confusion is because there are actually TWO party floors in the Student's Union building - the downstairs area (which is a bit bigger and has a stage) the upstairs area (which is smaller, but also pretty big!).

To expand on what Choco just posted:

On Friday night, downstairs will be the Momoi Haruko concert followed by the after-concert party, which Snap is DJing.
Upstairs will be the Karaoke.

On Saturday night, downstairs will be Choco's epic J-Pop party!
Upstairs, the pub quiz is on until 10pm. Then from 10pm to midnight, it's the J-Rock party - and from Midnight to 2am is the Eurobeat party.

On Sunday night, the end of con party!
Downstairs will be a selection of DJs playing J-pop, and I believe Choco will be doing a singing performance Cheesy
Upstairs we'll have a DJ spinning a mix of J-pop, anime and game tunes.

Don't worry, you don't have to choose which one to go to - it takes about 20 seconds to walk from one room to the other (there's a big staircase between them in the lounge bar), so you can pop in and out of them all night to your heart's content, if you like Smiley

Anime and j-pop more accurately, as there's usually way more anime themes played than there is j-pop Smiley

Thanks very much, that's a lot clearer to me now!
I think the whole student union 1 and student union G thing is what confused me, I'm a student there and have never heard those rooms names before! XD I'm guessing those are the rooms that have been built in the (very slowly coming together) new students union, as those are the only places I can think of with bars!

Wait so there's no cheesy English 80s/90s dancing at all this con? D8
I know at Kitacon a lot of people complained that there wasn't enough of it. It was the cheese that filled the floor. (Also we lacked Rickroll, it's like the most popular song to get everyone on the floor.)

Nope, there's not. AmeCon has two parties that play Western music. AyaCon doesn't.

Requests for the anime/jpop disco will be closing tomorrow. Anything requested after 6pm tomorrow (Friday 7th August) is not guaranteed to be in my music library for AyaCon.

Ah, yes - sorry, we sort of made up the names. Ground floor and first floor (G and 1) is what we're working from. I don't know what the official names for each of the rooms are. They're in the new SU building, yep! It's all very shiny and new, although sadly they're still working on the front of the building so everyone is going to have to come in through the back door Smiley

Nope. I know this committee has discussed this, and I've personally chatted to a few of the organisers about it - there's a general feeling that a convention should be about doing stuff that DOESN'T happen every single night of the week in every town in Britain. If you want to listen to western music and have a few drinks, the country isn't short of places to do that Smiley

BELIEVE me we have had this debate before.

As someone who is naturally in favour of the cheese, I will say this now. You don't wanna go there... xD

A little Dreams Come True wouldn't go amiss in the disco, given their 20th anniversary. A few songs that I think would fit well:

Da Diddly Deet Dee
JET!
Mata ne
Ahaha
